Default Tire/chassis interference following suspension replacement

I have a 2005 SS Supercharged with the original stock 17” wheels and OEM-size tires. I replaced the original shocks and struts with correct-size KYB parts, and now I notice the tires rubbing the chassis when I turn the steering wheel all the way left (like when making a u-turn). The car had a four wheel alignment. Any ideas?

Yeah, put the OEM shocks and struts back on. "Correct-size" is an entertaining term when applied to aftermarket parts. If these companies could make parts to the correct specifications, they'd be OEM suppliers, not eBay sellers shipping their garbage from China.

Mine (05 SS/SC) does that with stock suspension.. I think it has something to do with the optional 17" wheels.. Ive seen other 05's with the 16" wheels and they do not have this wear mark on the inside of the wheel well..

Thanks for both responses. I really appreciate the feedback. I'll post more if I learn anything interesting.

Interesting. I have no problem with factory suspension and factory 18s.

1. As I own one of the above vehicles, I am completely and utterly aware of this fact.

2. My point was that since factory 18s don't rub my wheel wells, I am incapable of understanding why a wheel with at least two inches less diameter should rub a wheel well of the same size, assuming the struts haven't failed. I'm interested in an explanation from the person experiencing the issue.

As far as I have learned, it was an option for the 05 SS..

Some do, some dont.. Ive heard both sides multiple times over the last 10 years or so.. Owners, shops, ppl who have heard ppl, ive seen it on other cars myself.. Not something Ive ever looked into really.. On the ones I have seen personally tho, the wear marks are all different sizes.. Mine is just about an inch.. Ive seen it rubbed thru the wheel well and a couple others that are not as bad.. Perhaps there is a tolerance between tire sizes that allows for enough of a difference in size..

First off 96z34man, I was in no way trying to insult anyone, if you took it that way it was certainly not my intention.

First off he said the tires are rubbing not the wheels. The tires are different size per wheel , example a 225-60-14 is not the same size tire as a 225-60-16.
