well i figured all this out, so if anyone needs help on this there was a bad ground comming from the gauge cluster, i found this out because after the tach problem it started to dim by itself and id have to hit it to get it to light back up so i took it all apart(wow what a job) and found the loose ground. but any way if anyone ever needs to know what wire is the tach signal wire its the white one comming off the coil pack and it leads into blue 53 on the PCM harness.

im doing this today for a gtech pro ss http://www.gtechpro.com/ss.html

where did you eventually tap the wire? i want to use the acctual wire that goes into the back of the tach guage but i cant find which one it is. i dont want to run a wire all the way up to the coil pack harness.

EDIT: after some research. you cannot tap the wire at the tach gauge just through the white wire at the coils.

EDIT again: its been so long since ive hooked this thing up. when i just pulled it out i realized i didnt need a tach signal. but tanks for the location info.

I never actually did it cause I got mine fixed, but let me know how you do it just so I got some more info on the car, I do have the 3400 BTW, so that might void the whole plan.
