Opinion Needed: Strut Mount replacing on 96 Monte Carlo
I have a 96 Monte Carlo Z34 with sport suspension.
I have my struts out already. I assume that if I take the nut off holding the strut assembly together without a spring compressor that I'll die. I have one spring compressor and I'm wondering if that will be enough even though I saw a video on Youtube of someone using two. My goal is to replace the strut mounts.
Has anyone replaced their strut mounts before on a similar vehicle and could give some tips?
In the video that I noticed that the spring was compressed a lot and was wondering how much I would have to compress the spring on this car.
I intend to use some rope as a safety measure in case my spring compressor breaks.

use a ratchet strap to keep the spring compressed, take the nut off and remove mount and such, then take the spring off. release ratchet strap while spring is off the strut and not touching anything.
if you have new springs, which you probably should after 18-19yrs, just cut the old one off with a cut off wheel.
