I still say be careful and would limit the amount of driving you do and don't go diconnected more than a few weeks and would avoid fast accelaration. Both sense the fuel/air ratio in different ways and their data guide the engine computer (PCM) to make adjustments to achieve the proper ratio. A ratio that is too lean brings in too much air and can damage engine internals like valves, rings, anything that moves and needs oil to lubricate it basically. One that is too rich dirties up the engine and catalytic converter and with carbon. I'm very curious to know what sensor is causing the MAF to short out. I've only heard of that happening because of a bad electrical ground.
