Stalls out and will not restart for several minutes or hours

I was heading out to work this morning and my Monte just sputtered out and died in the middle of the road about 150 yards from the house. I tried to restart it and it would not, however after waiting for about 3 hours it restarted and I was able to get it back into the garage. I shut it off and tried to restart it and it would not run. After waiting about 15 minutes I tried and it fired right up. I do not understand this one for sure. About 3 months ago I had to have the upper and lower intake gaskets replaced. It is a 2001 SS with approximately 120,000 miles on it. Any and all help on diagnosing this problem will be greatly appreciated.

When it won't hot start if you pull the plugs are they soaked in gas?

Could be a clogged fuel filter..
I would start by checking the fuel pressure at the fuel rail...

My guess.. It just maybe a failing fuel pump.
Please keep us informed on what the fix is..

Well i have replaced the fuel pump, filter, relay, and crankshaft sensor and this piece of junk is still doing the same thing......thanks for all your input on this matter, but i am tiring of being a parts changer. So far this thing has only given one code and that was for the crankshaft sensor. However it did not make a difference changing it either

Did u check the fuel pressure regulator?

One year ago I had the same problem (identical symptoms) and it WAS the crankshaft position sensor.

Did you replace it with a cheaper (china made) replacement ? Just asking.

If it still gives the same code, the replacement part could be defective, it happened on my wife's car with the MAF.

I had a similar situation, my 2000 SS would turn off right in the middle of the road with
about 74,000 miles. I went by other peoples symptoms and discover that the MAF & IACV had to change, problem gone !
Sorry for responding so late.
