Default Squiky belt.

I was coming home from work tonight, and I was going about 40 mph and aout 5 mins before.. I pulled my air buttons from heat to cool, and 5 mins later I noticed the something was squikin under the hood, I know it was a belt, everyone knows that sound.. I don't know what it was to be exact. It started for like a 30 seconds then went away and didnt start again, and this is the first time i have heard it done.. If anyone can help please gimme me some feed back, thanks.

What motor do you have? 3.1 or 3.8? Check your lower intake, upper intake, check any radiator hoses on that side...check the hose going from your coolant resevior to your radiator.

Your intake is right on top (The part that says 3100 SFI is the upper intake) and right below it is the lower intake. Look for coolant seeping out from there.

i would first suspect the water pump, the water pump is at the top, right, front of the car/engine or you could say its the pulley closest to the front of the hood opening.

My first guess would be the water pump also. I had it go on my grand am, and it sprayed antifreeze all over the place.

If you need to change the belt, or were thinking of it, try the gatorback belt. Cuts down on the belt slipping due to the glazing effect of normal belts.

In my area they run anywhere from 16-50 dollars. It should be one of the top pulleys in the center.
