Here I go again.....
I've always used NGK plugs in my veicles, but I havent seen any recomendations for them on this site. Any particular reason? I was planning to switch all fluids to Mobil 1, anyone have any opinions on Mobil 1 vs Royal Purple, or maybe there is someting better?

 

You didn't say what you have for an engine. IMO, NGK is stock plugs, and if you're running an L67, run 2 steps colder or go to the higher maintance, better performing Autolite 103's. Royal purple is not an approved lube by GM, Mobil 1 is, but not the Extended Performance brand.

Spark Plugs you buy according to how often you plan to pull them, examine them and toss them out. It should be no surprise to anyone that the cost of a Spark Plug is DIRECTLY related to its Marketing and Advertising Campaigns. Plugs get made to sell ... first. Supply ignition spark ... second. Most any Plug on-the-market will do two. The pricey "Designer Plugs", with aggressive Marketing Campaigns do one better than two. But, do two or there'd be no Campaign to sell them.

The list of Plug Manufacturers vying to sell you a Spark Plug is long and distinguished.
They are mostly all Race Proven in some MotorSport or another.

I run the Plug thats been around awhile and is used by more Formula-1 Cars than any other brand. Champion.
I don't let Plugs "Get Old"
There's only six Plugs and I want them young and healthy. So, I'm way ahead of the curve on replacing Plugs.

Buy what you won't become emotionally attached too and won't mind pulling and getting rid of at some regular interval.
Don't buy into the hype.
They're Spark Plugs.
Not nuclear control rods.
They need to be replaced before they wear-out and cause the hole to misfire and put that "Check Engine Light" on!

Plugs...No, I dont buy the plugs with the biggest poster in the store, or the ones that have more commercials. I've just had good luck with NGK over a wide variety of applications. As far as I'm concerned, gas will ignite under compression just as good with one spark as it would with 2, or 4.I'm asking for opinions because this is my first 3800, and every applicationhas a niche. If 20 people say Champion and 2 say Bosch.... I'm going to lean toward Champion.

IMO, the biggest thing is stay away from the platinum plugs and either use a conventional copper core plug, and change your plugs every 20,000 miles, or use an Iridium plug, and get the long life. For high boost applications, use the copper core to eliminate the hot spot and spark knock. a N/A engine can use about anything you put in it.
