i just bought a 2006 monte carlo an d im looking at doing a tune up on it i need to know what the best spark plugs are for it

 

the ac delcos they are the same as the ngk type that calls for it if you look on the side of the plug it will say ngk on the ac delcos any way's. so if you got the ngk all you are doing is just paying the ngk name. there are two plugs that i like they aare the e3 and the ac delco type just because they are at least two to three dallars different than the ngk but the e3 are just two dallars off the ngk price list.

 

is it the v6 or the v8 if it is the v6 i did a post on the 7th gen section on the site

 

ive heard the best spark plugs are platinum iridium(i think thats how its spelled) whatever you do DO NOT get those e3 or any thing thats copper.
but yeah stick with the delco's

 

well now you do need to be carefull because if your motor isnt built up you will wreck something. I had it happend to me in a 91 buick skylark, or course i beat the hell out of it but i didnt now anybetter. I had 7.5m wires and iridium spark plugs, ran great for 3 months.

I would recomend e3, i have had em for a while and i love em. While your at it try replacing the wires to. Try to go a lil better then stock.

 

i have the e3 in all my vehicles and my monte but it is also about personal preference as well. the delco platinums are a really good plug so are the ngk iridium. but the ngk iridiums wore out quick on me before. solike i said it is about what is your choise.

 

what i notice between the e3 and a standard plug i compared the idol rpm with my car befor i put on the exaughst. when i put the e3 in my car and my neighbors monty same engine and the 7th gen he has the platinums my idol rpm is actualy lower then his just a little. we did our tune ups at the same time and i wanted to compair.

 

it was an observation

 

mm i didnt notice a drop in rpms, but i did recive a slight power boost.

 

its wiered i felt both slight improvement in pep and better rpms with the e3 also when on the high way better gas milege in my mustang that i built up as well as my mone carlo even though the monte is a v6. i compared the gas milege befor and after i got at least 41 on the high way with the monty with the e3 and 34 with the stock platinum ac delco. its a 7% increase but i am happy with the monty. but with the mustang it seems like it is a cooler plug for it and seems like it needed the plugs. a vast improvementat the track now with the hp set up as well as the basic add ons
