No check engine light.. codes don't pop up when scanner is hooked up.. all head lights tail lights work. Its crazy because every time it flashes I have to make sure its nothing important like low coolant or low oil.. can someone please help?? Its annoying and embarrassing when I have people in my car!! Lol thanks

This could be almost anything. You'll need to get the codes read by someone with a Tech 2 scan tool. On my car, the light is on and the The tech 2 shows that my DRL has no power and there's no communications with the trunk occupancy sensor. Since my car doesn't have either of these things, the codes are correct. I had swapped the BCM in from another car until I get everything sorted out.

The electronics know more about the condition of the car than you might believe. The DIC, instrument panel, BCM, radio and cruise control are all capable of throwing codes that may light the SVS indicator.

Thanks for your full response gprtech. but I was thinking.. your daytime running lights are connected to the ambient light sensor in the top of the dash.. have you ever replaced that sensor?? And what's a DIC? And the trunk has a sensor??

Maybe that was set up by the dealer to let you know the car is due for some type of maintenance, like and oil change?

The trunk occupant sensor was an option. It's not present in my car.

I don't have daytime running lights, the wiring isn't there.

The BCM is one from a donor car that had these things, so it's programmed for them and produces codes since it's looking for them and they're not there.

It senses an open circuit on the DRL driver line and is unable to communicate with the sensor module.

I've got a Tech 2 and a new BCM, but I have wiring issues with the car and am waiting to finish fixing them before installing it permanently. The BCM locks itself after 35 attempts to start the car, and I want everything set up before then. I've already had it in place for programming and testing.

I need to replace the pins in some of the connectors that have proven to be intermittent.

The car is one that was a Sandy flood victim and was completely submerged, but it only had 19000 miles on it. It looks & drives like new.

Thanks for the responses... and I guess I answered my own question lol.. I went to a local junk yard and grabbed an ambient light sensor from an 05 SS and replaced it... now the light is no longer flashing!!! Now all I wanna do is grab the instrument cluster from the SS because it has more guages on it! Thanks for the replys!!

BTW.. my headlights and tail lights and tag light used to run in the day time now they don't.. which they shouldn't have in the first place
