Default Sepentine Belt on a 02 SS?

I was wanting some advice on installing a serpentine belt on my 02 SS. Is it a DIY with a garage full of tools or do you suggest I have it done by a Tech? Just like everybody else money is tight so I would like to do it myself. TIPS, SUGGESTIONS, ADVICE PLEASE. Thanks in advance.

it isnt very hard to do at all. it might take about 10 minutes. I suggest you buy a Gatorback belt at an auto store near you. They are great belts.

The belt is held in place by a tensioner. it looks like a flat pulley with nothing attached. it has a nut on top that is used to release the pressure on the belt. It is a good idea to get the tool that is needed to do the job. it can be done with regular mechanic's tool. If there is space to use them. make a drawing of the belt pattern before you do anything. it make it much easier to put back on. i made that mistake. Take what ever tool you are going to use and slowy turn the bolt counter clockwise. you should be able to see the tension on the belt release. Slide the belt off of one of the components, and return the tensioner to it orginal place. notes. the tool needed is not expensive, and can be found at most parts stores. also replace the belt with one that is the same as the one you removed. some have anywhere from 4-7 grooves. hope it helps.

I have done this and that answer above is pretty much the whole deal. Honestly the hardest part is remembering how the belt was positioned around the various components so take a physical or mental image of that. (Only problem I have ever had was a frozen tensioner pulley in that case it makes it a little more involved process but still not hard to do.) Good luck!

just use some PB blaster and let it sit on the bolts that are a little stubborn.

It's super simple, everything everyone is saying is true.

Shouldn't take you a long time at all.

Just remember to release tension as you go and it will be a breeze.

this is from member:TAZ

1. Drink a beer.
2. Drink more beer.
3. put wet clothes into dryer.
4. drink another beer.
5. fill sprayer with weed killer.
6. goto fridge and get another beer.
7. forget that you already filled the sprayer.
8. try to pour more weed killer into already full sprayer.
9. watch weed killer spill all over the place. !%&#$^*
10. have another beer.
11. spray weeds with weed killer.
12. accidentally spray wife's flower bed.... oh well.....beer will fix that problem.
13. wait until next day to see what the damage is.
14. get yelled at by wife.
15. plant new flowers in wife's flower bed while she drinks a beer and watches.
