Sepentine Belt on a 02 SS?
I was wanting some advice on installing a serpentine belt on my 02 SS. Is it a DIY with a garage full of tools or do you suggest I have it done by a Tech? Just like everybody else money is tight so I would like to do it myself. TIPS, SUGGESTIONS, ADVICE PLEASE. Thanks in advance.

it isnt very hard to do at all. it might take about 10 minutes. I suggest you buy a Gatorback belt at an auto store near you. They are great belts.
The belt is held in place by a tensioner. it looks like a flat pulley with nothing attached. it has a nut on top that is used to release the pressure on the belt. It is a good idea to get the tool that is needed to do the job. it can be done with regular mechanic's tool. If there is space to use them. make a drawing of the belt pattern before you do anything. it make it much easier to put back on. i made that mistake. Take what ever tool you are going to use and slowy turn the bolt counter clockwise. you should be able to see the tension on the belt release. Slide the belt off of one of the components, and return the tensioner to it orginal place. notes. the tool needed is not expensive, and can be found at most parts stores. also replace the belt with one that is the same as the one you removed. some have anywhere from 4-7 grooves. hope it helps.

I have done this and that answer above is pretty much the whole deal. Honestly the hardest part is remembering how the belt was positioned around the various components so take a physical or mental image of that. (Only problem I have ever had was a frozen tensioner pulley in that case it makes it a little more involved process but still not hard to do.) Good luck!
