Default Security Light Problem need help!!!

Lately my security light on my car has been coming on. A few times I have been stuck and not been able to start the car until I did the whole reset thing and its starting to become a problem more and more. I been reading on the forums and saw it said I will need a new ignition cylinder but I am wondering I was going to get a 2way Viper remote start/alarm before the winter came and they said I will need a bypass when they install it. My question is would them installing the bypass fix the problem I am having???? because I dont want to spend the money on the new ignition and I dont have to. The only place I know that can fix this is a dealer and I believe the usually cost more the individual mechanics. Also how much does this repair usually cost to get fixed??? Thanx in advance!!

I just had mine done because my Avital remote start system was locking my car up. My local Chevy dealership installed a new cylinder...good price too, only cost me my soul and first born son...... Right around $465ish. The bad part is the cylinder itself was a little over 100, the rest was all labor.
