Default running cool

New here. Got a good deal on a 98 z34 month ago.144000miles. Heat core and rear o2 sen 2yrs old. Replaced up/low intake, rad, w/p, hoses (except heater hoses, they're next) new thermo 180, elbow, cleaned throttle body, low coolant sen and replace coolant and oil twice fixed a leaky fuel conn and vac leak and been running without engine cover. Bled air out. Not throwing lights, but it seems to run cool 1/4 of gauge Have seen it go to middle while park but never heard or seen fans come on. Heater is hot but not omg i got to take coat off. Thinkn bout having oriellys run a scan. Also could it be a stepper motor.Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

With a 180 thermostat, it's going to display 1/4 or less on the temp display on the dash. Mine goes up to halfway, then the tstat opens and it drops to around 1/4. Couldn't hurt to check the car with a scan tool though.

Thank yous. Im thinking i might just go back to a 190/195 thermo.Winters around here get pretty cold. Plus i really need the gas milage. How much of a temp change do ya think there is with the cover being off?

Engine cover helps keep the noise down, not the engine warm.

I would throw a 195 back in there if you want the heat for the winter, no need to run the 180
