Resistor for fan motor

Default Resistor for fan motor

I have a 01/ss fan works only on 3.4.and 5 positions I want to R/R the resistor for the motor, my dealer wants over 200.00 $ any tips on this would be very helpful.........:thu mbsup:

The heater resistor is located on the passenger side below the glove box. Slide the passenger seat all the way back, remove the lower dash panel and you will see it on the heater cowl. Unplug the electrical connector, take out 3 screws and remove the resistor. You can purchase an OE heater resistor replacement for about $30.

Yep, he's right. We bought one at Advance Auto Parts, it was very cheap compared to the dealer. I put it in my dad's '02 LS. However, now he only has speeds 1-4, 5 does not work. I don't know if it's the resistor or not, but 4 blows the air hard enough for him, so I never investigated it any further.

Thanx guys for your input on R/R blower motor resistor definetly wasnt easy!!!!!! alot of upside down work, had to remove blower motor for access. have been wrenching on G.M. products for years but new to this car and like it alot new resistor fixed problem and monte carlo forum members are awesome>>>>>>>>>>>.............

Upside down is the most fun way to work on cars, with your back kinked over the door sill haha.
