I have been painting a lot of my trim pieces in my 99 monte. I want to paint the bezel around the gear shift, the ash tray lid, and console lid. However, I can't figure out how to get the shifter **** off. I pulled the pin that is on the back side of the shifter **** but it doesn't come off. Does it unscrew, pull, push...?

Also how do you get the ash tray lid out?
