Default rear window defrost

when i remote start the window defrost works as evidenced by what i am seeing, the problem is when in the car and starting with key in ignition, the rear defrost does not work. if it works with the remote start, why does it not work when the vehicle is started with the key. is the relay okay if it works with the remote start. is there any fuses inside the vehicle that need to be changed. any help would be appreciated.

I'm not trying to sound like an ***, but when you use the key to turn your car on, do you push the button for the rear defroster AFTER you have stared the car??

Yeah, I do....In fact, the time it wasnt working, I didnt even remote start the car, I started it with the key, and turned on the rear defrost, but it never started working.

Thanks for the thought though,

When you push the button to try to use the rear defroster, does it light up or does it just stay out?

It lights up as if everything should be working, but the window never defrost/ defogs........

I just took my car in to the dealer yesterday morning for that whinning noise i've talked about in another post, and I told them about the rear window defroster at the same time, so i'm hoping both get fixed! I'll update you all.............

While mine was in the dealer, they checked it out, and claim it works fine...which it normally does, it was just once it didnt work...So IDK, I hope it just continues to work from now on...

IDK what to tell you, maybe one of the joints where the coils are hooked up to the wire is bad, meaning the soder is broke or something...

Has to be the way the remote/bypass is tied into the circuit. The relay for the rear defroster runs through the BCM.
Here's the schematic for a gen. 6 (2000 SS) which is probably similar to your gen. 7's:
