Rear drum-to-disc conversion for Lumina
Hey there, just joined the site to ask a question about my Chevy Lumina, which is like a family Monte Carlo I guess.
Basically, I have a '97 Lumina, rear drum brakes... looking to switch to disc with either a Lumina with discs already, or, a Monte Carlo.
I'll grab the parts from the wreckers, just wondered... is it basically a direct swap? Since the Lumina/Monte Carlo are 90% the same car... I'm hoping I can just remove the whole 'chunk' from one car and bolt it onto the other without needing much else... though I'm certain I'll probably need a few extra bits and pieces, or bigger rims, etc (currently have the stock steel rims).
Anyone happen to know? Thanks

The question that enters my mind is whether or not the '97 Lumina has ABS. If it does then a rear disc conversion may become more complicated. In addition to hard parts you may need to also swap the ABS control unit since the disc system will have different line pressure versus the drum system.
