Plastic motor covers retain heat?

Wouldn't you think the plastic engine covers on our cars cause heat retention? Has anybody removed theirs permanently? Thoughts/insight?

I dont even have one but when I get one im just going to put it on for show. Not while driving daily.

I'm willing to bet it makes no difference at all.

When I got my Monte it had no engine cover. The Temp ran about half. With my cover my engine temp trends have not change!
