Default Pass-Lock and GM Service Department

Good Morning MCF,
I am Looking at the Dorman Pass-Lock sensor from Rock Auto (link below),

2002 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO Ignition Passlock Sensor

My question is, has anyone used this unit and does it have to go to a GM Service department to be programed for my car, or do I just have to do the security relearn and it's done?
Thanks Guys!

I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure the dealer does have to program it

A security relearn may be needed, but you don't have to go to the dealer for that.
