P0300
Ok so for a little back story. First i have a 2000 Ls and have been experiencing erratic hard shifting like i have a shift kit but its very random and happens in all gears. It also has a high pitch whine coming from the tranny. Recently the car idles rough (100 rpm jumps), fuel gauge is jumpy and this morning the car starts spitting and sputtering. Check engine flashes and comes up with the p0300 code. Anyone one know what the culprits could be and are they some how connected.
Thanks

thanks for the quick reply. After some searching i believe that is my problem with the trans. Can't imagine how much that is going to cost my pocket. I just wonder if that is causing the other problems or if it is an all different kind of fun.

PS anybody have any idea what a trans place would charge?

P0300 = Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected.
P0301 = Cylinder #1 misfire detected.

P0306 = Cylinder #6 misfire detected.
You didn't say`how many miles are on your car, but it sounds like it needs a tune up. I'd pull a plug and check the gap before buying new plugs, cuz plugs last 100,000 miles or more anymore. Copper plugs don't, but platinum and iridium plugs do, with electronic ignition. Then check the ends of the plug wires, and overall condition of the wires. You also didn't say what engine you have, but coil packs are ALWAYS a problem. And IF the cylinders that are misfiring are powerd by the same coil, that could be the culprit. You can pull the coils and check the contacts under it, also. Might even the ignition module that the coils are attached to.
Because it's a misfire code, and if it returns after clearing it (free at Auto Zone and others), those to me are where to check. If you got a buddy that's an auto tech, or don't want to start replacing everything, any good tech can hook up a scanner to your car, take it for a ride, and monitor the engine. A lot of times it will misfire without throwing a code, and they can pinpoint the cylinder(s) that is causing the problem.
With all that said, I have more problems with coil packs than any other part of the ignition system. If you replace coil packs, spend the bucks and get factory coil packs. They are the best and most reliable, even over MSD coils. Plug wires are second, and plugs last. But check the plugs and wire 1st, cuz it's free. I think you can have coils checked, also, but I'm not sure.

Whenever your check engine light is flashing it = mis-fire.
Also take a look at all your fluids, make sure they are all good. (which is part of the tune-up, so I would x2 getting a tune-up)
