Default P0137 and hard start up

2001 SS Monte 3.8 N/A milage in avatar.

So after i removed my resonator because of the giant hole in it i am getting a second CEL and i did a search for the code and there really isnt a whole lot of people with the issue like mine.

The code is p0137. Low voltage to the sensor. I was under the car last week and the harness had come lose. I plugged it back in but the CEL came on again with the same code. When i erase the code and then start the vehicle up it struggles to start. The next time i start its completely fine.

Any suggestions other than replacing o2 sensor. Sensor was fine before resonator delete and i have been told that would have nothing to do with the o2 sensor once replaced with pipe.

How was the pipe replaced, is there an exhaust leak anywhere?

The sensor could be bad if it was unplugged, got dirty or something.

As far as i can tell when i was underneath the car that there is no leak. the pipe was welded in place of the resonator right after the ubend.

I was thinking it might be dirty but ill have to remove a heat shield to get to it as far as i can tell. I was able to plug it back in but that was a struggle.

Little update. I havent had the issue light come on in awhile but then this morning the CEL came on. This time it came on during my drive to work, in less time then it usually comes on which made me think it was a different code.

But sure enough after work it came on again p0137. Would it help if i posted the specifics of the code that were displayed on the OBD scanner or should i just give up and replace the sensor?

Default Gm tsb for this

There is a gm TSB a out this that I have read before. Sorry I can't be more helpful other than this. Figure out which wire from the O2 sensor is the heater ground, put a short wire from the O2 sensor (cut and splice) and ground the wire on a good clean chassis ground and that is usually the fix.

Thanks for the response Justin.

I wonder if it would be voided because of the resonator delete?

a tsb isn't always a recall and that one isn't a recall its just a tech tip from gm to technicians so it can be fixed quicker. that may not be your problem but its worn a try. a heated o2 sensor can be expensive. and never soldier o2 wires together for connections just a crimp connector and then a sealant free shrink tube to cover it.

Just a quick thought, did the resonator removal involve any welding? Sometimes welding with the exhaust will cause an O2 that is already kinda faulty to quit altogether.
