ok my cars fans gave out and i had a situation where my L67 overheated so i stoped the car and got new fans good for a couple days now it gets below redline if i drive it stays in the midle but if im at a light it acts up engine has 80k on it when it does this my coolant level drops quite a bit also im runing a new 180 stat

 

Bleed the air out of the system.

argggg dude i got tired and just changed whole water pump and thermostat delete and changed both coolant elbows that where leaking after while the car was shut off seemed to help alot but im still unsure about tstat delete im installing a manual fan switch tonight with wire tied into the curent setup please pro and cons would greatly appreciated a holes welcom too usualy learn alot from you haha just kidin

 

Thermostat delete?

So you changed the water pump, and the elbows. Did you still bleed the complete system and do a full flush?

 

He probably means that he is running without a thermostat. Ive ran this way before for months, the only problem I have is on a cold start it takes forever for the car to warm up to operating temperature.

 

yup no thermostat can i run this and not have overheating probs? i still need to bleed the system even without a thermostat?

 

any time you do coolant work you need to bleed the air out of the system. You could still have overheating problems, it depends what the issue was.

 

I would strongly advise against not running a t-stat. It causes the coolant to run so quick through the engine that it can pick up any heat causing the engine to overheat. Race cars still use restrictors in place of the t-stat.

 

good points i dont deny them but lets say as DRuben did i fixed the original problem which i think was the coolant elbows leaking coolant and letting out enough preassure so as to not let my thermostat do its job if i remove it to rid me of future headaches will i be ok?
