Opera window mouldings
Looking to confirm that the mouldings that are available after market for 73-77 do actually fit all 4 model years. OPG only shows one part number for all. The windows seem bigger in the 73 model than the 76-77.
I found an original stainless steel set from a 73 GP. If GM was all the same, as far as years go, the 73 Monte was the only one with stainless steel. I would try and find some of those. When I had mine, they didn't have the repops yet. You would think all GM bodies of that type would interchange but that isn't so. Good Luck in your search. As far as this being a FWD site, there are more with those versions but still a few with the older ones and lots of car knowledge. So don't pack it in just yet. There are other Monte forums that might cater more to that though.
Brother, you got real lucky. I have found there is just no 73-77 Carlo's around in wrecking yards anymore. They were all used in derby's or made into street stock race cars it seems. OPG has the mouldings but the dimensions are out by a 1/2 inch from my measurement. As mentioned, they only show one part number for all.
Is this what you are looking at. Look good to me.

Try going to www.thepartsplaceinc.com they carry a lot of original monte carlo parts and I saw they had exterior opera window trim listed on there site for $149.00 and they are located in Dekalb, IL a lot closer then OPGI in CA.
Thanks guys. I discovered a place about an hour drive from me that sells re pop stuff for GM. I am going to call them Monday and see what they have for 2nd gen Carlos. Likely the same supplier but I won't have to deal with shipping and border fees.
OPGI has them for $223 for a pair, which I think is insane. You can try www.montemania.com, who may have a good used set.
I actually replaced mine with cut-to-fit chrome molding/trim from Autozone. It costs about $15 for a roll large enough to both opera windows. You can massage it into place and around the corners of the window. Then reinstall the stainless stell clip in the front corner to cover the seam. Its a cost effective measure that matches the rest of the trim fairly well.
You can find it in the trim section, near the license plate covers and exterior accents section of Autozone.
