Default Odometer intermittent on/off

Hello! My 2000 MC has a problem with the odometer not always coming on like it should. Sometimes it works just fine , lately it hasn’t been working at all, any ideas?

Seems like I recall watching a YouTube video on how to replace the steppers for the gauges that the guy said he also repairs the board for a common failure of the odometer display. Probably means you need to remove the instrument cluster and have it repaired.

This video for the ignition switch is pretty good for removing the cover, then four bolts hold the IC. I'd recommend replacing the hazard warning/flasher switch while you're there - its what causes your turn signals to blink.

Sounds like stepper motor. I would advise that you replace all the instrument stepper motors and bulbs while you have it apart. Some of these panels need soldering, not sure about the '00. The '04 did. You can order several motors at once on ebay -- when I had mine replaced a couple years ago they were about $22. Make sure you get the upgraded ones, they have different numbers.
I found a local repair shop to do mine, but if you're handy and you solder I don't think it's a big job, but there are several steps.
I think my job cost about $115 plus I had to supply the motors/bulbs, so about $137 for me.
