Default Need some help guys with driver's seat

Hi,

I just bought a 2003 Monte ss Jeff Gordon edition. we love it. My husband is handicapped and used to drive a 2002 pontiac gtx. He needs the longer door type cars to get in and out easily. We have noticed that the seat does not go as far back as his old car and it is making life a bit more difficult. Is there a way to set the seat back a few inches? Can this be done?

Thanks

If the power seat all the way back isn't far enough, you will probably have to pull the seat out, and move the whole seat track back a few inches.

I agree this is possible to move the seat track back, but would it not also require welding an extension tang to the front of the track that slips into the slot. And drilling a new mounting hole location at the rear of the track? Don't know to many other ways to do it.

Yeah, it's definitely a little involved, but there aren't many tricks to go further than the factory anticipated.

Welcome to the Forum!
Lots of Great Info and People here that are more than Happy to help you out!

Have you considered going to somewhere like "Mobility works"?
As an Above knee amputee, I too need a vehicle with a door that opens a bit wider than normal... Which is why I bought my Monte Carlo!

I don't know if theres a "Mobility Works" in your area...(Not knowing your Location)
But im sure theres a company like "Mobility Works" that could help you out!
But when I need something to help with my mobility needs.. That's where I go.. There very good at doing/adding adaptive things! Maybe they could adapt it so the seat will swivel out, As well as slide further back to accommodate his needs!

Hope this Helps!

Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate it!

I am not sure about mobility works but there is a place that installed the hand control for us called Bussani and we will try giving them a call.

Thanks again!
