Need help with 01 monte ss

Less than a week ago my monte is making squealing noise under the hood. Someone said it's the harmonic balancer going out. I have replaced the pcv valve but that's all. Plus I believe a vacuum problem. While in Park just idling I can take my oil cap off and it'll have a lot of suction on it and when I take it all the way off the engine almost dies and sometimes does. What do I need to do to fix this?

So I took the car to a mechanic and he said that my lower intake gasket is bad. So I finally figured out what's wrong with my car. I hope that anyone that has this problem that this will help.

Sorry I did not see your first post or I would have welcomed you to the forum the other day.
Sorry to hear about the gasket :( Hopefully it is not too costly.
Anyway, welcome to the forum!! :)

i would of guessed a vaccum leak, i never heard of a lower intake gasket causing this. but who knows maybe it will fix the issue, welcome to the forum

Before spending the money for an intake gasket replacement check your PCV valve.

I agree with 03SSLE. Although I have not had this particular issue, I know that if you remove the PCV while the engine is running there is suction. I would think, that if the LIG was bad you would have an oil leak, or a coolant leak, or air being sucked in at the leak location.
