Default Mystery Connector - Help Please

Hey everyone,

I just discovered a connector that is not connected to anything. And with all the work done on this engine recently (some by me, some by a shop) I'm wondering if something got neglected in re-assembly. I can't find / recall any other sensor in this vicinity. The attached pic shows the connector. It's on a short cable in the rear of the engine near the alternator. You can see the rear bank valve cover and back of the alternator in the pic.

Any idea what this connector is supposed to connect to?? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

If it isn't your o2 sensor plug, then it's just the extra plug that isn't used by all 3800s. GM recycled the harness from all the cars it seems :P

Definitely not the O2 sensor. Just installed a new one yesterday. That's when I discovered this mystery connector.

Just came back from the shop that helped me with some work about a week ago. They think it's never been hooked up to anything. That's what I was hoping. Seems to make sense as there is nothing nearby that it could connect to.

Thanks for all the replies. Appreciate the help!

Oh, and sorry to hear that your Monte just got towed to the shop, 03Monte. Hope it all works out.

Picking up from 12 years ago, I just now discovered this mystery connector attached to the pigtail of the wiring to the alternator and assumed it was an extra and came here for confirmation....thx
