Is my fuel pump going out?
The last couple of days, I've noticed that I'm getting a high pitch whining noise from the rear of the car with the car idling. It sounds like its coming from the gas tank area and I'm assuming its the fuel pump making this sound. The car has 93,200 miles on it and I'm assuming its running its original fuel pump.
Is this noise a sign that the fuel pump is on its way out? If so, what brand of pump do you recommend?
I tried pulling up an AC-Delco pump on the Delco website but it wouldn't pull up any fuel pump. Rockauto.com also did not pull up a Delco pump so I'm assuming that one is no longer available or something else was originally used. They do show a Delphi pump which is probably close to original.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is an access panel somewhere on the car to access the fuel pump without dropping the tank. Is there and how difficult of a job is this? I've changed in tank fuel pumps before so I'm assuming its fairly easy on this car if you don't have to drop the tank. Thanks for any ideas and input.

as for the access hole, you are correct, just fold your seats down, pull up the carpet (inside your trunk, right behind the folded seats) shouldn't take you long to get to it...
Hammer, flat heat screw drivers (to rotate the retaining rings), something to pull the clips off the fuel lines should all you need , have fun!
