Default MONTE CLUSTER

Hey everyone, new to this forum. Just recently bought a 03 Monte LS...I currently have the regular LS cluster. I was wondering if there would be a way I could swap my cluster out with one out of a Monte SS of the same year?? I dont have the battery and oil press. guages but that SS cluster does...would I run into any issues with the swap or would it be "plug and play"?? Would the mileage stay the same...and would I have any probs out of the passlock system regarding the installation of the new cluster? This is something I think would be a cool upgrade for my car and ANY input/suggestions would help me out a lot. Thank you.

the dash will not work as a plug and play but i have heard of others doing this just not sure how they did it I have th e03 SS.

I know the plugs are the smae in that harness but it is the wireing goign to the idiot lights compred to the guages in the SS models.

your millage is stored int he cluster so it will change when you swap it out.

Also if you plan to do this and are really set on it look in to the heads up display on the Grand Ams i ahve ehard of them being mounted in to the montes also but not sure what it involved but would be a nice feture also.

You need a special windshield for the heads up display. A very expensive special windshield. Lol. Not worth it IMO.

actually if you were to put the guage set form an ss in there are the guages would work all the sensors are all controlled by the computer and all the cars are wired for either dash

I have also been told it will work via plug and play as long as its the same year. If I remember correctly, there is one light that wont show up though... I cant remember which one.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I really dont want the headsup display on the windshield...all I am really interested in is the SS cluster swap. As to the mileage, how can i go about getting that changed to match my car? Also, something thats very important, would I have to get the car "reflashed" at the dealer so the Passlock system dont prevent the car from starting?? The reason I say this is because I have a 98 Cavalier 5-speed that came with the bare bones cluster, and when I went to install the cluster with a tach, the "Theft System" light kept flashing and wouldnt let the car start until I took the car to the dealer and had them re-flash the Passlock system on that. Any ideas on these 2 things?? Thanks everyone!!
