Making a cold air intake system?

Default Making a cold air intake system?

Who here has made their own CAI for the monte with air box? Anyone have pictures? how about a guide? search isnt workin for me for some reason... any recommendations? tryin to limit my budget. Im doing this with a top swap, and need to pinch every penny I can while gettin more air into the engine.

I did a MCF Search also, but could not find
I know we have members that have done `it & posted.
I do know that Member 2000_BLACK_SS (`Luke Smith)
did a custom air box. If he does not see your post ?, you

do a search on "fender well intakes", "homeade CAI", "homemade cold air intakes", and probably others, and you will find tons of info

i got mine off ebay and it was on my 99 s10 with the 4.3 acutally.... i just took one of the 2 peices and put it on here with the filter. it was like 30 bucks shipped. i know it doesnt look like some of those high buck ones but it works for me haha



lemme know how the top swap goes i wanna do that on mine sometime soon here...

i like his idea better. haha my buddy made a 5" intake with pvc pipe that he got at lowes... it looks legit too. fender wall and everything... and yes i did say 5" haha its HUGE!!

You can also get these things called in line air boxes for making your own CAI. Its a cylinder made out of stailess steel (i think) and you can hook up tubing to the front and back so you dont have to worry about where to put the "inline air box", you can just put it in the stock location. It also comes with a conical high flow air filter. Although, Ive never tried one, it was somthing I considered when I was starting to make mine. Just look around EBAY and you will find them. They're pretty cheap BTW.

Cool thanks. So i got the New Cold Air intake system on Order and expect it in about the sametime i get my car back from the body shop. But i had this kind wierd ideal to do a Throtto body spacer or standoff whatever it is called to give a better spin for the air to come in. Keep in mind that my cold air is going to be short cause the car is getting a functional Ram Air hood. Here are the specs based off my current knowledge of my Ride.

2002 Monte Carlo SS
3800 Series II V6

Any addtional mods that i can do that is bolt or a link to a section of the forums that already describes this would be greatly helpful.
