Default MAF Sensor

I have a 96 Monte Carlo with a bad MAF sensor. Is it ok to drive the car with it unplugged until I can afford to replace it?

You can usually drive a car with many things (minor) wrong/bad with it for a short time. For the MAF speficically, it shouldn't cause damage, but will have reduced fuel mileage. How long are you wanting to drive the car before you make any repairs to it? And what do you have going on with the car? Idle issue? Check for vacuum leaks to start.
