MAF KEEPS going bad!?!
Ok so as the title says... What can cause this?? Im on my 3rd one in 3 months now..
Every time it "goes bad" its the same exact scenario.. This slowly becomes very apparent
*Same code every time.. "Low voltage something or another"..
*Wanting to downshift EVERY SINGLE time I let off the gas the slightest bit.
*Sound similar to a slipping transmission (seemingly from the A/F mixture going whacko) Its like it revs up without putting out any more power..
*Cannot get the car to stay in any gear to save my life because of the A/F fluctuation (causing the car to expect more/less power, and then shift accordingly, realizes its not getting that expected power then shifts back to cruising gear)
*Unplugging the MAF gets rid of all these problems.. Changing to a new MAF temporarily solves the problem.. What can cause this over and over??
I have seen on the GP forums something about a "burn off fuse"? Is it called?? Whats that about? Is that something that can ruin the MAF if it, itself is bad?

Ok so tell me if I understand this correctly..
This "burn off" relay is what "controls" a mechanism (burn off wire) built into the MAF..?
The relay goes bad and no longer are commands being sent to the MAF to use "burn off mode", cleaning the MAF itself and therefore this makes the actual sensor go bad over this short period of time??
Can someone show me where these relays are?? Please and thank you..

I have heard of issue's where a oiled style air filter(K&N) would cause problems if they had too much oil on them. Not sure if that applies to you. Just went thru my complete wiring harness or what's left of it and the MAF wires go directly into the pcm not sure if that's much help .And if the wires are bad I have them if you need them, before I throw them away . You can test the sensor and also the wires with a multi meter. I don't remember the readings off hand but a simple Google search should find them for ya.
Also what sensor are you using? If it's a aftermarket replacement like bwd etc throw them in the trash and buy a acdelco maf. Only use acdelco electrical parts when replacing!
