Default Locked Keys in Car

Happy Sunday

I just picked up my 2007 SS a few days ago and I've already locked the keys in the car. I was fiddling with the DIC "remote learning" last night, accidentally locked the doors and left the keys in the cup holder

No problem, I thought. I went to use the spare set, only to find out that neither the spare key or the remote will work on the car.

Before I call my insurance company for a free unlock at their leisure, is there a quick way I can unlock it myself? It's sitting in the garage..........

My First thought is to check your battery in your spare remote.

Check to see if any of our break in artist member have another choice...Good Luck 4-Sure

Thanks, Space - Swapped the remote battery out for a known good one. Nothing. The key doesn't turn the door lock, so I'm assuming the spare remote/key is not the correct one for this Monte.

All windows are up and sunroof is closed...gonna pry carefully at the top of the passenger door, but if no-go, I'm calling the pros.

Sorry to read that it didn't work, but I think you are wise to let a pro open it...I've seen to many that did more damage with a coat hanger & other types of wire's etc & did damage.

I think `if the key & remote are the wrong ones, that you dealer should be liable for any cost or inconvenience that you had ?

Good Luck & I hope that you can get a lock smith soon & on a Sunday..Keep us updated `OK...

Do you have OnStar? If you do, they can unlock them remotely... You'll have to call them from your cell or landline, but with your VIN # they should be able to help you out... Good luck...

OnStar was my first call. System is disabled, so no help from them. They transferred me to Chevy Roadside who charges $70, but they need my cc number, which is in my wallet in the car.

So, I called a local tow guy about 10 minutes from me who I happen to deliver mail to. He's coming out within an hour and only charging $40 cash. Gotta love it when a crappy Sunday turns out to be not so crappy after all...

Thanks for the update & that things are working out 4 you & your Monte. I hope your dealer compensates you for their mistake & that they pay your cost.

Hard lesson learned & I hope you get a 2nd set that works & that you keep in a safe place...Good Luck & EnJoy the power of your S.S. once U can get inside & start her `up Victory

Maybe,
The spare key is the correct key? Just the tumblers may need a bit O lube to free them up?

I think I would have tried that option before having to spend any of my cash..... Powdered graphite works very well as well as W-D40... becareful to not overdose the tumblers (with WD-40)...if it runs down the paint...WIPE IT OFF IMMEDIATELY! Or it will eat the paint....
