Default Isolater issue.....81 MonteCarlo

My Isolater calls for a separate wire connection to a 20a ignition key circuit. The Isolater is located just above the main battery (upper driver side front). What/where is the easiest location to an ignition keyed circuit. i was thinking that the wire to my built in reguater that connects to my alternater would do but I am wary to tap in to the wire. Where on the fuse box can I connect to? As an option...do I have to go off the ignition switch itself? I researched that the pink wire of the ignition harness feeds the solenoid, so it must be a momentary switch, right. Is it dangerous to run into this wire....I appreciate any advice....Ed

Places on the fuse box that are directly influenced by the ignition switch are (according to the Chilton's manual diagram) the choke(25A), power window, a/c htr(25A), radio(10A), and wiper(25A). the power window does not have a rating listed. it just says CB and I have no idea what that means.

Barbara:
CB= circuit breaker..
Or
An actual CB radio...
It all varies with options of your particular vehicle.
Some vehicles came with a built in CB via the radio.
But on separate power circuits/fuses.

Default Isolater bottom line

I got a Add a Circuit fuse tap and will place it in the "Radio"fuse slot on the car's fuse block which is not being used. Previously, I ran wiring to my radio separately. I will use 12 gage wire from that and a relay to get to the Isolater. Can't hurt. I will also have 20amp push button circuit breaker between the relay and the isolater. The wire used to go to each battery and the Alternater will be 4 gage. The short connection to the main battery will have 80 amp fuse protection. The longer connectin wire to the 2nd battery 100 amp fuse protection. All this seems to be a secure way to do this install?...thanks for the advice

Thumbs up I replace the isolater I had with

A stronger one. It was 120 amp rated and the new one 140 amps. Anyone interested in the old one? $17, add $3 towards the shipping(@ $9) and its yours
