6th Gen ('00-'05): Instrument panel lights dimming intermittently
Hello everyone,
I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS and am having a problem with the instrument cluster lights intermittently dimming and brightening. It doesn't matter if the engine is on or off it will do it. When I first got it a month ago the dimmer switch burnt out and melted the harness. I thought it was maybe a problem with the way the old aftermarket JVC stereo was wired in to the dimmer so I changed out the old stereo harness and replaced the dimmer switch and the plug that connects to the dimmer switch. I did not reconnect the dimmer wire to the stereo. Now the issue I had before is still present the dash lights are still dimming and sometimes if I bump the dash it will make them brighter and will stop dimming until I turn the car off. Once I turn it back on it will start dimming and brightening again. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
