Ideal temperature for a monte carlo ss

Default Ideal temperature for a monte carlo ss

I have a 84 MC
The stock temperature gauges didn't work, so i added custom ones, but im not really sure what the normal temperature
My father is saying around 200 or 220 is right.
i just wanna be sure by asking yall thank you.

What degree thermostat do you have ?
Do you have any engine/exhaust mod's..
A stock 305 with free flow exhaust should have a
180° thermostat. 200 to 220 temp's should be OK when your Monte is warmed `up...
What is your new gauge reading ?

The one i added goes up to 260
and when i drive it, it reads between 190-200 no more or no less.

You should be fine running 190-200 , my 1940 chevy with 350 eng. runs 200-210 in the heat of summer in spring/fall it runs 160/190 I have a 160 thermostat..
