I have a98 Monte Carlo need help with rear brakes

I have been working on my rear brakes I can't compress my caliper piston I an not that close to town is there any tricks or quick fixes?

Take the cap off of your brake fluid reservoir. This will make it easier to compress the cylinder as you won't have to fight against the brake fluid pressure.

What are you using to compress it? I use a giant C-Clamp since I don't have any fancy brake tools.

I have broke two c clamps so far never took the cap off reservoir tho

Try taking the cap off and let us know how that works out

C clamp has always worked for me, but as mentioned, relieve the pressure then try again.

If im not mistaken:

If Theres an X pattern on the piston...

You need a special tool that compresses it as it turns it back inward....
Maybe check with your local auto parts and rent the proper tool...

This is how you have to do my 1999...

I think maybe there is an x I'll check but If it is what is that tool called?

A brake adjustment tool?...
Not sure it has a "name"...

In my Haynes manual it says, using a two-pin spanner or a pair of needle nose pliers, turn the piston to retract it into the caliper bore. Turn the piston as necessary so that a line drawn through the slots in the piston face would be exactly perpendicular to a line drawn through the caliper mounting bolt holes.
