Not to put the idea down, but what sense does that make? Buy a 5th gen monte, probably pick up a wrecked L67 car, and then have to do all the work of swapping it? Much easier to just get a 6th gen. You get the L67 and a newer car.

What about an ls1 gto? If your not partial to monte's. You can pcik them up for 8-12 grand. Otherwise the l67 monte is alot more modifiable than a ls4 one.

Not to put your idea down about not putting my idea down but there are merits to swapped fifth gens.when mine is done, ill have a grand total of $3k in it. And thats for everything, bodywork, paint, interior, suspension, brakes, cost of car, cost of engine swap, plus all the maintnance over the last 2 yrs. You end up with a lighter car with better a arm design. Plus if you hit something, replacement body panels are easier to find in the jy(been swapping my interior out for sixth gen stuff, theyre tough as hell to find in da jy lol). Plus average peops are more impressed by a fifth gen sc'd than a sixth(for some reason people think all sixth gens are sc'd lol) not bashing one idea or another jus mentioning options. That said i always recomend getting a replacement car as possible to the previous cars platform(makes adjusting to replacement car that much easier) so an 04-5 sc may be the better choice in this case. too bad he didnt buy the car from insurance, b a lot of spare parts

Iv heard that cobalts are a serious step down from the monte's. Except the turbo nut its not worth the extra money. Even the ford mechanic I know who swear up and down that ford is the best stuff on earth hates the 4.6's and the like that the newer mustangs have. If it doesn't have a 5.0 its not worth it I don't remember what year they switched from the 5.0 in the mustangs. I know maybe its the bowtie talking but I really like the ls engines. They do a good job at putting power to the wheels. And my choice of advice is swayed by the fact that I LOVE the gto's and will be buying one eventually.

they put the 5.0 in 2010 but changed the body in 09 the i love goats i really do and yea ls motors are great but the mach 1's motor is different its the cobra motor with out the blower the internals are different. i may be 20 but big car guy just looking for a fun ride i can bring to meets and scare all the hondas and nissans, one thing i always loved about my monte people didn't realize its light for its size and its quick

I love scaring the hondas! Even turbod I'm way down the road before they can get their full potential. My GTO will have an "evo eater" sticker on it.

My vote would be for a supercharged Monte Carlo over the v8. My parents' have a v8, I hate working on that engine.

Plus there is so much you can do with the L67.
