Default How do I wire my fog lights (HIDs) with a Relay?

I bought factory replacement fog lights that didn't come with my LS and I'm using a 35W HID kit. I wired the fog lights to the battery and a toggle switch and they've worked great for over a year. I never used a relay so I'm melting the toggle switches every week. I wired a relay like it says and I can't get them to work now. My questions are do I need a relay for each light, and what size fuse should I have in my fuse holder that I have going to the switch? Thanks.

You did not mention the, "ballasts"/"igniters". How do you have those wired? When you install a HID lighting system, you need to run completely new & separate (lower gauge/thicker) wiring for the HID system's current n voltage demands.
To help you with the relay and toggle switch issues, you will need to somehow explain how you have it wired up now.

seen03....sorry I was in a rush...forgot about the ballasts...OK..I wired the both of the ballast's red wires to the battery and grounded both of the black wires...then I ran them to the toggle switch inside the car. Like i said, they worked perfectly for a year...I just got tired of buying toggle switches every week...plus I wanted to do it right..

Wiring for the control circuit should be 16 or 18 gauge

Fused battery + to toggle switch
Toggle switch to terminal #86 of relay
Terminal #85 of relay to ground

This completes the control circuit

Wiring for the load circuit should be 10 or 12 gauge

Fused battery + to terminal #30 of relay
Terminal #87 of relay to HID ballasts

This completes the load circuit.

ok..finally getting the chance to do this...just remembering that the ballasts have a red and black wire. I take it that the #87 goes to the red and what about the black wire on the ballasts.? Thanks

umm why are you using a relay kit and how is it burning your toggle switch?

I ran DDM 35w HIDs off a rocker switch forever and still doing it with no issues. What kind of switch are you using?

I'm using a regular 2-prong toggle switch from Advance Auto. Seeing the switches kept melting I figured I needed a relay. Forgot how i had it wired...

Get one of the circular 3 prong switches with the little LED. Those worked just fine for me. The switch you have may just not be able to take enough power through it. The circular one has worked just fine for me and the LED lets you know if it's on or not. The extra prong is the ground for that LED also
