Default Heater intermittently working 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo 3.4L

The heater fan stopped blowing a couple days ago but came back on next time I started it up. Yesterday it decided not to work again ( of course because it is our first day with freezing temps). It seemed like it was producing heat just not blowing it. This time it didn't start working after restarting the car. A friend "kicked" an area on the passenger side just below the dash and it began working again. Now today ( still freezing outside) it has decided not to stop functioning again, tapping that same area isn't helping, and now it no longer seems to even be producing heat at all. I know almost zero about working on cars beyond inflating the tires, but I no longer have anyone around that has the knowledge AND the ability to troubleshoot this problem without causing other damage in the process. I have no funds to pay to have it looked at but need to find the problem cuz with these temps the heater is now a necessity. At first I was thinking a fuse but i dont believe it would stop and then start again if a blown fuse was the issue. Any suggestions of where to begin looking would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

Could be a few different things such as a bad blower motor resistor , the blower motor itself or possibly a wiring issue. I would highly suggest not kicking the blower motor anymore . Parts shouldn't be too expensive and job not super difficult when you figure out problem. Will have to check for power and ground at blower motor and go from there. Good luck
