This is a fairly stupid question...but did you make sure you don't have anything covering the sensor on the dashboard? Like I said, stupid question, but I figure it's best to check the simple things first? :x

There is nothing blocking the sensor...Like I said it's not the daytime running lights...

This just started happening and yes the high beams work. Also the service engine light is on when it does this. Sometime the service engine light goes off the headlights go off during he daytime

well if you have a service engine light come on, take it to autozone and ask to check for codes, probably located under the bcm codes

Default Headlights always on when car is on

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have a 2000 Pace Car with 98k. Brought the car in to a local mechanic who tried to read the computer with the standard scanner. Finally brought out the BIG scanner and he said it shows a problem with the photo light. Told me it could be the bcm, the wiring or the photo cell itself. Wanted $85.00 just to start. This is as far as I went. I think its the photo cell itself. Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is an older thread but i wanted to update it. Bought my car into the dealer. Service vehicle light on, car always in night mode, drl not working, rear lights out, interior lights out. Replaced and re programed bcm, replaced head light relay, replaced ambient light sensor. $600.00 with a 15% off coupon. Thats total with tax.
