Default Gettin new brakes, need advice

Hey people!

I plan on doing the whole l67 swap on my 1997.

I been told I need to upgraded my brakes, I need get new ones any because they squeak and grind loud as hell.
Then ill upgrade the axel, get the 4T65E tranny, then the 3800.

But here is the link of what brakes im gonna buy.

ZZPerformance - 12" Brake Upgrade Kit #ZZ-12BRKT

Should I get all those addons like the drilled slotted rotors and the stainless brake lines?

Any advice and opinions is appreciated. (I honestly dont know too much about auto mechanics)

Haven't ever seen or looked into stainless brake lines so I don't know what to say but it's all about what you want to do with your Monte. Stainless is nice if you plan on showing your car off at meets or what not however factory or oem lines will work just fine. Slotted and drilled rotors are more for high performance rides. Shoot some of the new mustangs and camaros don't even come with high performance rotors. Still it's about what you want. Those types of rotors are known for disapating heat which helps prevent warping and also leads to better stopping ability. However if I were you I'd look into getting the f-body brake calipers. Two pistons not one like on most cars. Two pistons equals more braking power and increased durability. Just my thoughts. Goodluck with those mods on your monte. I too would love the l67 swap but its just too much work and money for me right now at least.

Hi, well for one your Monte Carlo already has 12" brakes, that kit is for the Grand Prix's to convert from their 11" brakes to the Monte Carlo 12" rotors. See now you have money to buy other things with.
There are so many mods to do, knock them off one at a time and some year you will be done...

Are you out of Salt Lake City? I'm in Spanish Fork, we should meet up if you are in SLC.... Would be fun to run around with another Monte Carlo

Truth, he has a Gen 1.5 w-body. They have some subtle differences in the brakes and suspension that he has to work around to make his 5th Gen work.

Check out this thread about a guy who did the L67 swap: https://montecarloforum.com/forum/en...ts-pics-14487/

Im telling you they arent even close to fitting i also have a 97 monte and if there was a way to install 12" gen 2 brakes without HEAVY fabrication, i would hav worn through a couple sets of pads on them by now
