on the trans topic its all about what youre looking for. one is a 4 speed one is a 3 speed. if i was going to just be drag racing the car the 350 is where its at. since youre looking for fuel economy i would have to assume thats not the purpose of the car so if it has a 2004r in it id keep that. its heavier than the 350 and never gives you the crispy shift but not a bad unit once theyre built. if the car has the 4 speed in it the 3.73s like the ss cars had would be fine. itll help you off the line and the overdrive will insure the car doesnt rev itself to death on the highway. im going to assume this is a 305 car since you didnt give much info on it. to run fuel injection i think the cheapest route would be to go to the junkyard and get the whole tpi set up off of an iroc or trans am. computer, wiring, distributor, and the whole tpi setup. the tpi falls on its face after 4500rpm but im sure that the motor is probably extremely similar to what you have already. hope this was of some help.

dont know what you mean by 500 nat, but if you mean naturally aspirated 500hp thats not going to happen with the 305 nor will it be fuel efficient. not to mention that rear probably wont take that kind of power for very long. that kind of power youre looking at a big small block with compression or a 350 thats worked up hard or one with a power adder. that and none of the factory fuel injection setups are going to feed anything making that kind of power. if thats your goal you should not waste money throwing anything into the motor, trans, rear combo you have and save up for a whole new combo. preferably 383 cubes and up. with at least an 8.5 in the rear.
