Exclamation Gas smell in car!

I have been getting a very strong gas smell when I use my heater on both inside and outside airflow settings. Not sure where to start looking. Any advice helps.

When was your fuel filter last changed? o2 sensors? Could have an o-ring going out on an injector.

Have not changed fuel filter, o2 sensors, or injectors. I live in Pittsburgh so weather is still not good whole under car is wet but checked near the fuel filter at work in the garage today and noticed a gas smell when touching the filter.

I would start with changing the fuel filter first and see if the smell goes away.

Highly doubt its a fuel filter. It sounds as though you need a new fuel line, or a seal has gone bad somewhere along it.

The fuel line sound bout right. On my Dad's '93 Blazer (I know, different vehicle) that was the problem. It never really sat long enough to find a drip so what we did was jack it up and put it on stands and followed the lines from the tank to the motor. We found the seal on the 2 halfs of the tank were bad and 2 of his lines we leakin. I had the tank problem on my old '96 Cheyenne as well. Also check your filler hose when you fill up. On the truck that was bad. If its bad around the tank it might not drip on the ground but it'll stagnate and you'll get the smell. The best thing to do is drop the tank and look at everything to be sure you didn't miss anything. Hope this helps not just you but anyone experincing this same problem.

Something you can try, in my 01 Monte just under the engine cover there is a black hose that runs directly in the top of the motor, just barely touch it and if gas sprays out a little then that piece need to be replaced, that the problem my was having when I smelled gas
