Default 2004 FactoryService Manual sources and LIM question

Any good sources for a legit factory service manual. I have paid for and downloaded same for other vehicles.
Searching for this one sends me on a wild goose chase of pop ups and links to other useless poo.

Was the LIM gasket issue ever fixed by GM as far as new production implementing the newer gaskets, or is it all aftermarket fixes.

I want to know if my 2004 is a probable candidate for LIM surgery. No coolant in the oil as of now.

The intake manifold gaskets have been improved but I still went with the Fel Pro PermaDry Plus metal gaskets. Do it right once with these and you will likely never need to worry about it again. If you're thinking about doing this the Haynes manual is ok for instructions but you can find better instructions/write ups searching the web. It's actually not that bad of a job, lots of steps but nothing terribly hard. Just make sure you have and accurate inch-pound torque wrench and a foot-pound wrench that is accurate down to 18 pounds. Also a 10mm crows foot is needed for two of the bolts.

it may make it easier, but it is not required. i dont own one and have had no problem working on the 3800 or 3400 engine. i've done head gaskets and LIM repairs on both engines (my car and my wifes).

a swivel socket is the only "funky" tool i had to use myself.

Good to know. I may have found a good fsm link, for about $22. I'll post the link if it pans out.

Just found we have a half rusted out / broken front sway bar, pretty common from what I'm reading. Have my eye on a Dorman solid replacement kit from RockAuto.

Ordered a used climate control module (fan switch shaft was broken) for $30 on ebay * makes a motion of throwing dice*. We shall see.

Still got to register and insure this... my son's first ride may go in his name and insurance; I'm still working on quotes from a few insurance crooks, er I mean companies.

He hasn't shown much wrenching interest so far; I hope he develops into a competent DIY guy.

This is a much nicer and better condition car than my first several rides.....
