Frozen Doors
Silver bells....silver bells..... it's Christmas time, and my doors are frozen.
Yep, the NE Winter is upon us and lately I've found my doors freezing shut a lot more than usual. Does anyone have some tips to help prevent this. I tried the advice of someone to spray WD40 on my door latch to try to stop it from freezing but no luck. So I just have to give it a little shove to un-stick it, which isn't a problem I just don't want to have to shove my door in all the time for fear that I might damage the latch or the hinges.

my guess is its the weatherstripping thats freezing, my 5th gen liked to do that if it rained then got cold enough to freeze.
funny thing is, this same topic appeared on the ranger forum i go onto. some of the answers there were to wipe wd40 onto the weatherstripping, or vasaleine, or using spray silacone on a rag wiped onto the weatherstripping. everything'll need to be re applied once and a while, but it should help

Mogwog,
Simply spray all the weatherstripping with Silicone Spray. It's a good idea to do this regularly anyway. It's a good treatment for all the weatherstripping in the car. Spray it heavy on the door weatherstrip, window runners, trunk weatherstrip, and any rubber sealers under the hood. Do this about every 6 months.
Some White Grease Lube Spray on the door hinges is a always a good idea, and a quick spray of some WD40 directly into the door lock cylinders and the trunk lock cylinder.
Do the above to help insure a Happy Christmas.

i got some of this at lowes for work, and went back later to grab the last two bottles they had for myself. they also have a little bottle with a tip made to go into keyholes so you can squirt it all around in there.

i spray it all over the car and turn the engine on and soak the belt. all the plastic and rubber parts and hinges and stuff.
use it to soak a soft cloth and wipe down my guns too.
brings life back into those dried out looking audio cables too!!!
i think it even keeps that smell xcellite tools have at bay.

I just use the white lithium grease (comes in spray bottle too) put some on a paper towel and wipe all the weather stripping on the car, lasts usually a whole season and I periodically pop up my sunroom to make sure it's doing its job. Never failed me.
