Sorry to hijack but I feel I'm in the same boat. My fiance's '97 Monte has started having these growls here lately. Can the bearing itself be replaced or do you have to replace the whole unit? I'm new to this forum at least but I've been over at ClubGP.com for about 3 years so I am familiar with the W-body cars and have enjoyed the heck out of my '03 GP GT. I've just never had to tackle a wheel bearing until now so I figured I'd come to the Monte forum and get some good advice. Thanks!

ClubGP is a nice site, I visit from time to time myself.

From my understanding, the entire unit has to be replaced.

Try somewhere that sells acdelco parts..or goto acdelco.com, mine was 111 bucks, beware of the cheap ones that are like 100 bucks from autozone and the like. And i cant see paying 250 for a timken bearing thats no better quality than an acdelco one. And if they ask you whether its a steel or plastic clip...get whatever one is cheaper, the clip is the one that holds the abs sensor wire to the knuckle, just reuse the old one and save the difference in cash.
