Depends on what type of brakes you currently have. you have a stock set-up? you have any aftermarket rotors, or other upgrades.

Myself,

I am in the process of doing a brake upgrade (F-body) and I am going with the Hawk ceramic front & rear pads. Awesome stopping power, minimal brake dust.

If you hate brake dust, ceramic is the way to go. The OEM pads on my GXP had stupid heavy dust- the wheels looked like crap 2 days after washing them. I switched to the ceramic AC Delco replacements, and now can drive for weeks and weeks without the wheels getting nasty with dust (and even then, they never get as bad as the old pads did). Stopping power seems about the same too- they seem to have a little less initial bite, especially when ice cold- but max stopping seems about equal.

Obviously it would be different depending what brand you go with though.

YES, get ceramic if you dont like brake dust. But DONT get "powerstop" ceramics, they suck as far as "dust free" as they claim... Dam liars!! They sure do last a LOOOOONG time though, and the dust at least comes off really easy.
Wait.. Back up here, the reason I might have such a problem with brake dust, might be from the D/S rotors I have IDK? Either way, you can find much better quality pads than the ones I stated above.

HMMMM? 'Bumpin, you say you have less stopping power when yours are cold? LOL is there some reason mine work better (have more stopping power) when I leave for the first time each day and mine are cold??

Default wagner mx699 or sx699

wagner thermo quiet mx699 are a ceramic pad with little to no dust build up.
wagner severe duty sx699 pads will last about 60-80,000 miles or more but make lots of dust. but also stop the best even when they are screaming hot.
that is the only brand of brake pad i will use at work. i hear good things about performance frictions #699 pad for our cars though.
