Opinion Needed: Frame rot on 2007
Just looked on eBay and found an LS4 with 105k miles for $900.
If you do part it out, I'd suggest trying to keep the whole powertrain together at first (engine, transmision, engine bay wiring, axles, pcm, tcm etc).
The LS4 came in a relatively low number of vehicles - 4 different models, but only the very top level trim of each for just a few years. So folks searching for a new engine won't be as common as it would be with a common engine. Its also not the standard "LS" bell housing bolt pattern, so you don't have the hot rodder customer base potential either.
By keeping it all together, you open yourself up to a market for people wanting to do a swap into other vehicles as well. Can always split it later if youre only getting offers on pieces of it. Frankly I'd imagine you'll have no trouble selling the transmission to a fellow LS4 owner.
