Interesting...i know i had a lot of issues with computers early on and had the bcm replaced several times under warranty but since then...no problems! 100k miles and counting strange luck... Although my outside temp gauge likes to get distorted readings according to wether i have the a/c or heat on, but who cares...
This thing about the gauge motors malfunctioning, when can i expect that?

Oddball.....you are one of the lucky ones with your Monte...You had to change your BCM several times?Sounds like a great quality product from Motorola who makes that BCM. Hopefully you wont encounter the leaky intake manifold issues due to cheap gaskets used by GM...you didnt mention what kind of engine you have in your Monte but if you have the 3.8 then be prepared to change your plastic coolant tubes running through your belt tensioner which will crumble on you soon enough especially with having over 100K miles on your engine!

The gauge cluster was replaced in my car around 54,000 miles.

I had mine replaced about the same mileage.Too bad GM doesnt make new ones, I had to go with a GM refurbished cluster but it seems like its working good so far!

I found someone on ebay that has some new Dale Jr. clusters for sale for $299. I thought about buying one to have just in case mine crashes again.

Sorry to say 70monte1....those clusters aren't brand new....he rebuilds them like brand new but they aren't brand new from GM......GM doesnt make new ones anymore...they are all refurbished at their outside vendor...When you buy a cluster from a GM dealer..it will be marked rebuilt or refurbished on the box...But they are good.....so far mine is working fine! The guy on e bay is a repairman from Connecticut...you have to send him yours as a core when you get one from him but he charges you a core charge until he gets your old cluster which he then rebuilds and resells! Good Luck!

The one I'm talking about says they are brand new and never installed. Here is the link.

Hello Wayne....No, This isnt the same guy...the other guy on e bay sells rebuilt clusters. I dont know where this guy got his clusters from unless they are NOS he bought them from a GM warehouse or some place like that. When i was looking to replace my cluster last year on my pace car...i was told by 3 different chevy dealership parts depts that the clusters are no longer being made and only available rebuilt and not brand new so these maybe NOS clusters but they do look good though! Hope it works for you and Good Luck but dont get burnt and get a warranty with it!

I don't know either. It ways he has 13 available so he may have bought out some warehouse. These Dale Jr. clusters would probably only be used for the Jr. cars and so its feasable that there were extras laying around that GM decided to get rid of because they were not being used.

I have not really decided to buy one or not. I don't have the money to spare at the moment and I don't need one since mine is working fine but I know these clusters have issues and since mine is a specialty cluster, I think its a good idea to have a spare just in case.

Wayne...If you think you want to have a cluster on hand just in case... Then come up with the money and buy it from this guy if they are really brand new.In my opinion i dont think you need to keep a cluster on hand...if yours does go...then just get a rebuild from the dealer or out of a car in the junk yard and have the real mileage programmed back into it. Believe me..you will have other more important issues to repair on your car than just the cluster so really dont waste the money you dont have on one and save for your other upcoming issues with your GM product and you will get those unless you have an extended warranty to take care of those issues for you. I mean, Are you going to buy and keep wheel hubs and sensors...Intake manifold, Upper and Lower intake manifold gaskets...plastic coolant tubes etc just in case you need them?? Youll be a Chevy parts store before you know it!
