Exclamation Engine Metallic Noise Please Help!

So when I pulled into the base I work at this morning I heard a sound that sounded like one of my brake pieces was loose (that type of metal on metal sound) but I noticed that when i stopped it didnt go away!&!&@## Popped thehood and did a REAL QUICK (was late already) inspection of the engine compartment and didnt see anything out of the ordinary... Any thoughts or ideas? Im gonna go out to it at lunch to take a gander.. what should I be looking for, Im gonna check the belt, ps levels, all fluids levels, but what else? I just did an oil change about 500 miles ago. My thoughts were that my belt is fraying somewhere and a piece of metal is dragging, or maybe the alternator has a loose wire internally.... Or maybe something got kicked up into my rad fan.... Thoughts and ideas please before I kill my new car

Okay... its the AC... Fluids are all fine but its almost certainly the AC... probably a dumb question but seeing as how I HATE using AC (much rather windows down, im a NA guy lol) can I buy a different belt to not use the AC compressor? and it doesnt look possible to change the ac unit without removing the engine... is this true?

While reading, instantly I thought to check your belts. The noises they can make are irritating, and it's not hard to change yourself.

Thanks, but I checked and its fine, normal cracking on the v's but nothing substantial... im almost positive its the AC unit... and with it not working for a while maybe something (clutch perhaps) finally broke

Where does the noise sound like it's coming from?

Its coming from the bottom of the engine, either the Crank or A/C. Not the fans and definitely not the alt or PS
